Doctor Doctor

We JUST got back from Landon and Addison's well child visits! (Darren is home so I figured I should take advantage of this time to update the blog!) We'll start with our little man, Landon...
This was his 2 year visit! What??? Seriously, where did our little baby boy go?
Stats:
Height...36 inches...89th percentile
Weight...28 lbs. 10 oz...60th percentile
Head...51 3/4 cm...99th percentile
(we all know this kid has a big head...big brain too!)
Our adventures with a big boy bed continue and each morning is a treat to go in his room to see where he is sleeping. Usually we find him in his bed, but I would say twice a week we go in to find him sleeping on the floor. One day last week we went in to find him curled up on his glider chair! What a funny kid!

Other new developments:
~This kid can have temper tantrums like the best of them, let me tell you! It has become a daily occurrence to have a meltdown at daycare drop-off in the morning, pick-up in the afternoon, as well as a few other times of the day. Darren and I (and Landon's daycare mom Jenny) have gotten to be pros at the art of distraction! It doesn't take much to get his mind elsewhere and he easily forgets why he was spazzing out in the first place.
~His vocabulary is unbelieveable these days! He learns new words everyday and impresses us multiple times a day with the things he knows. The doctor asked up today how many words he knows. I told her that I couldn't even guess. She said, "Is it at least 20?" Oh yes! This kid knows hundreds of words. I guess those multiple books we have read over and over since he was a newborn really did pay off. I remember thinking to myself as I was reading to him as a tiny little infant how ridiculous it seemed to read to someone who couldn't even understand a word I was saying, but we are definitely seeing the benefits now, tenfold! Not only does he know lots of words, be he is speaking in phrases and even complete sentences. We have to be so careful about what we say because he repeats a lot of what we say.
~He can count to 14, skips 15, and then says 16 and 17.
~He knows his ABC's.
~He knows most of his colors. He has gotten pretty good at blue, green, red, orange, pink, and purple. These aren't too consistent, but he gets better and better each day.
~The kid has some pretty good manners I do have to say! Please, thank you, you're welcome, and sorry have become quite a frequent part of his vocabulary! So proud to hear him say these words!
~Okay, this is the most unbelievable part and I'm not making this stuff up! He knows the following shapes: triangle, square, circle, rectangle (I know, not too impressive, but I'm not done) oval, star, trapezoid, rhombus, hexagon, pentagon, octagon, and parallelogram!
OKAY ENOUGH BRAGGING about how smart our kid is!
He turns TWO next Friday and we will be having our big "Very Hungry Caterpillar" party for him next Saturday. That means I need to get very busy finishing up the decorations for it and get a menu planned. AHHHH!
Darren loves to dress Landon up in his hockey reffing gear and I think Landon loves it just as much! (Please ignore my foot standing on the toilet in the background...I was painting one of the bathrooms!)
Okay, now for our little princess, Addison! This was her 6 month visit today.
Stats:
Height...27 3/4 inches...95th percentile
Weight...18 lbs. 9 oz...86th percentile
Head...44 1/2 cm...91st percentile
Latest Developments:
~This little gal has officially started the "Army Crawl" as of today. She has been scooting around backwards for quite some time, but today we noticed that she can crawl forward to get something she really wants!
~She can get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth, but no offically crawling just yet. I don't think it will be long now!
~She scoots around in full circles and also rolls around to get what she wants. This is especially true if she sees Landon playing with a toy...then she really wants it. She loves to chew on Landon's puzzle pieces!
~We've got two little teeth just below the surface of her bottom gums just waiting to pop through at any moment...and I mean ANY moment. In fact, I better go check right now!
~She has slept through the night the past two nights!!! Woo Hoo! I'm not holding my breath about this one, but I hope that this will become a trend because it sure is nice!
~She loves her fruits and veggies! Oatmeal too! This gal is not too picky.
~The jumparoo at Jenny's house has become a favorite pasttime for her. It's so fun to see her bouncing away with the most contagious giggle you can imagine! Love it!!!
Well, that's about all for now! If you are still with me, thanks for reading! We've gotta keep those Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunties, and Uncles updated on these little squirts! They change WAY TOO FAST!

Lilly's Dora Party

I know, a little late in posting as this was almost three weeks ago, but that's a good indication of the life I lead right now. Always behind. I can only hope that my kids don't notice.
We celebrated Lilly's 3rd birthday in Dora fashion! Let me tell you, Landon was pretty excited about going to a Dora party! The kid would watch Dora 24/7 if we allowed him.

This is Landon's new goofy smile for the camera...

Addison with her two great-grandmas...

Lilly received a set of Disney Princess dress up clothes as well as the matching shoes. Landon was not shy about sporting a Princess outfit. Don't you just love the princess heels with the sport socks underneath?

Addison and her Auntie (and Godmother) Jess...

Addison and Blake...it's so much fun to see these two stinkers together. Being only seven weeks apart in age, I think these two might get into some trouble together in the very near future.

I can hardly believe it's been 3 years since sweet Lilly joined our family!

Love Their Daddy

Yes, they sure do! My kids adore their Daddy!
Almost as much as he adores them!

Heard At Our House...

The idea of "Heard At Our House" came from an old colleague of mine in California. She just recently adopted her daughter from Uganda and has a blog that I follow. (To see it scroll almost all the way to the bottom of this blog on the left side. It's called "Loved As First Best." ) Anyway, she posts the funny things that Dorie says to her so that she can share them as well as have a record of them for later memories. Today I was telling our daycare mom Jenny about the funny thing that Landon said to me last night and she shared with her mom as well. She made the comment that she hopes I am writing these down! So, here goes...

Last night I was changing Landon's particularly stinky poopy diaper...

Mommy: Ewwww Landon! That stinks. Gross!
Landon: (in the most serious tone) There's applesauce in there.

(Yes, he DID have applesauce for lunch yesterday. Too funny!)

A Few New Milestones

I can't believe what a big boy Landon seems lately...
he's talking up a storm, helping out with his baby sister, getting up and down from the couch, kitchen table, our bed, AND...
now he's in a BIG BOY BED. Well, sorta...we converted his crib into the transition/toddler bed! He has done a great job! The first nap went so great and he didn't even cry or get out of bed. That night was a little tough. He got out and cried by the door but then eventually went back to his bed and fell asleep. Most nights since then he has cried at the door for a few minutes and then climbed into bed soon after. A few times we've gone in to check on him and found him sleeping on the floor. So, we pick him up and carry him into his bed and he stays sleeping. One morning last week we went in to wake him up in the morning and all we saw were his little feet sticking out from under the crib! He had fallen asleep under the crib. When he woke up he got out and said "Landon stuck!" Each night is a new adventure and we are hoping that soon after his birthday he will be ready for the real big boy bed...just the headboard with a twin size set of mattresses. Whew...when did this little baby boy get to be so big???
Seeing his big boy bed for the first time...can you tell he likes it?
(This is also the first time having a pillow in his bed! Way cool!)

Nice enough to let his sister try it out...

As for Miss Addison...
She's hitting some milestones herself! She's now eating both fruits and vegetables mixed with either rice cereal or baby oatmeal. She loves most of them, especially carrots, bananas, peaches, and sweet potatoes. Not so sure about the peas yet! We've also discovered that she loves Puffs as well as Baby Mum Mums. Landon also loved the Mum Mums and we tried them out for Addison last week when we were visiting her cousin Blake. He loves them too! She did so well and I figured out that she'll stay quiet in her high chair chewing on one so that I can get dinner made or the dishwasher unloaded...YES! Her other newest milestone is starting to scoot around on the floor. She pushes off with her toes and reaches for objects. She is also rolling to get what she wants across the room. Quite the little mover! She's also starting to push up on her knees. Won't be long before she's crawling now...watch out world!

Birthday Invites

I started working a little bit on stuff for Landon's birthday party...
Here's the finished invite with matching envelope:

Also in the works right now: cupcake toppers, birthday banner, and hats. I also found the cake I want to make. Can't wait to find more time to work on it!
