After some gentle reminders from a few people who shall remain nameless I realize it's time for an update. Here's a sampling of our Christmas 2012 in the Glur Household!
We spend the first weekend of December up in Fargo for our Glur Family Christmas with Darren's mom (who flew in from Phoenix for the weekend), brother Nate's family, and sister Jen's family.
I realize after the event that I didn't take as many pictures as I had hoped. This trip was cut short as we arrived in Fargo Saturday around lunch time and ended up leaving at bedtime. The weather was taking a turn for the worse and I had to be somewhere important in the Cities the next morning.
Landon had his first ever Christmas program for his preschool, St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. It was short and sweet, but ridiculously cute and entertaining! I couldn't stop laughing at all the cute little girls twirling around in their pretty dresses, kids waving and calling to their parents, little munchkins jumping all over the stage, and other funny kid behaviors. It was seriously too cute! This mama cried (yes, I will admit it) when the curtains opened and I saw my little man standing up there in his cute little tie and big boy outfit. Something about seeing your child perform on stage. He did such a great job! Auntie Jen came to watch and we had refreshments in the school cafeteria afterwards. A fun day!
Another fun opportunity we had this Christmas was to go to a party at the Xcel Energy Center for season ticket holders. While I wish we were season ticket holders, we shouldn't be so lucky. The season tickets belong to Darren's law firm and we had the privilege of attending the party this year. We were able to skate on the ice, take a locker room tour, do crafts, visit with Santa, and have treats in the Ice Lodge. We had a great time!
We spent Christmas Eve morning opening presents as a family at home. We did a little exchange this year and had the kids buy little $5 gifts for each other and us. It was fun to see what they picked out and it seemed like they were more excited to see everyone else open the gifts they "bought" more so than opening their own. I'm so glad for that...it's what I've been trying to instill in them as they get older.
We went to my mom and dad's house in Annandale for our traditional Christmas Eve party. Each year it gets more crowded and louder there, but that's what I love! We're so blessed to be able to spend time with family as much as we do. Aren't my little nephews the cutest things ever...these are the two that were born a day apart back in August (Cullen on the left and Boston on the right).
It's pretty much impossible to get a good picture of the 7 grandkids. This is the best I could do this year. We try every time we are together, but there's usually at least one child who chooses not to participate. I seriously get a great laugh out of looking at all the pics I took and all the expressions on all of their faces. Too funny!
