I'm going a bit out of order here...mostly because birthday parties are my favorite thing to share on this blog. I'll go back to the 4th of July and Kretschmar Kristmas in July later!
We celebrated Addison's 2nd birthday on Saturday "Dora Style!" We had a wonderful fiesta to celebrate her special day! She has been so excited about her birthday party and watching me get everything ready to go. So sweet too! Every time she would see me working on something for her party she would ask what it as and when I told her it was for her birthday party she would say, "Ohhhhhh, thank you mama!"
Starting with the invitation, I found this little package on etsy.com:
We had decided to have the party at my Grandma Dolores's cabin on Bass Lake since Addison loves it there so much! I had been watching the weather very closely all week and it said partly sunny, humid, and hot! Well, imagine how bummed when I woke up at 6:00 on Saturday morning to see rain, lots of rain, and no end in sight! I was more bummed than I was on my wedding day when it rained, because this party was supposed to be outside, darn it! After heading out the the cabin early and sitting there watching the radar we determined that it should clear up by party time, fingers crossed! I was one crabby mama...Darren will attest to that! I had worked soooo hard on all the decorations and details and couldn't even set them all up. Luckily for us, the skies started to clear and I was able to set everything up just in the nick of time for the party to begin. Whew! The rain moved out and we had a nice day after that!
So here's what the cabin looked like all decked out:
The desserts table:
The cake was one of my favorite parts of her party...
My inspiration came from two different pictures on Pinterest.
The food table:
We served beef and chicken tacos (soft shell, taco in a bag, or fried hard shell), guacamole, salsa, chips, beans, rice, all the fixings, and fruit!
Oh, and I also made churros...one of my favorite treats from back in my California days!
Darren went home and got his mom and the kiddos just in time for the party to start!
The kid table:
We couldn't believe it...this may have been a first where they actually were all sitting down and eating!
Pontoon rides:
Cake and ice cream:
Pinata time!!!
Opening presents:
Water fight:
Swimming:
Lots of guests:
(these are the ones we got pictures of anyway)
