Our Little Monkey's Party

On Saturday we celebrated Landon's 1st birthday! It was quite a day! We are so lucky to still have a big room in our house that is unfurnished and undecorated to use for the party. It worked out perfectly! We had 23 guests total and had a great time!
Here's a picture of our little family before the craziness began...all four of us!

The monkey cake...it turned out exactly like I wanted it to...four hours later! I made a little version of the cake for Landon's smash cake as well. (Thank you Martha Stewart!)

One of the decorations I made was a sampling of pictures from Landon's first year. I included a picture of him at each month. Landon had more fun looking at it all weekend!

I ordered Landon a shirt from Lil Cubby on etsy.com. It was personalized with his name on the back as well. The birthday hats I made with extra paper and ribbon. Landon was the only one that actually wore one though. At least I got a picture of them!

The sign I made for the door:

The banner I made. I've collected ideas from many of the vendors on etsy.com and created my own version. It was easy to do with my Cricut machine and scrapbook supplies. Not so easy to hang up though.

The paper goods:

Landon with his birthday boy hat, shirt, and high chair bunting that I made as well:

Landon didn't quite know what to do with his cake right away. I tried to show him how to blow out the candle, but I ended up blowing it out for him. It took him awhile to get the idea that he could dig right in to the cake, but after he got the hang of it he had a blast, made quite a mess, and was quite the entertainment.

Landon feeding Daddy some of the chocolate frosting:

The little monkey after finishing up with the cake...right before he took a mid-day much-needed bath:

The bath water looked pretty gross with chocolate floating everywhere. It took two tubfuls of water to get Landon clean!

After his bath, we had fun opening Landon's birthday presents. He is one spoiled little man. Lots of summer clothes, lots of toys, and lots of necessities. Thank you everyone for the wonderful gifts!!!

Having fun opening presents:

Trying out one of his new toys:

It was a GREAT day and we are already looking forward to his next birthday party! We get to celebrate again on Thursday on his real birthday! I can't believe our little man is already a year old!
